Fargo (1996)
The groundbreaking Coen black comedy that made a massive impression when I first saw it. It was a wild thing to see a movie that did what this does with its brutal violence combined with comedy. Seeing it today my view is a bit different. I didn’t laugh as much as I did to Burn After Reading but I got a different takeaway as cemented by the ending. All this meaningless violence isn’t just for pure fun, but to showcase how greed can spiral out of control with dire consequences. What really matters is that you can be content with the small things is life as Marge being happy for her husband’s stamp design.
