Peppa's Cinema Party (2024)
While I am obviously not the target group for this, my kids are - which we saw this with - and I have seen a good deal of Peppa Pig and it is generally not bad. However, I do think this loosely stitched together compilations of episodes is a drop in overall quality.
The pacing here was a bit off and there was a lack of quirky funny moments that otherwise have been prevalent in the series for all those years. Something for kids and adults alike. Here the stories are flat and just going through the motions. In many stories Peppa and George are barely doing anything, they are just observing the adults do stuff. The series have always built on the premise to take the adult world a little less seriously, and giving Peppa and George time to learn about every day life in a fun and playful manner. We don’t see much of that here and it was my impression that must kids in the theater were rather unengaged.
While a full length feature film wouldn’t make sense, they could have tied these stories better together. They have done that before with success as in the grouop of episodes when the family travels to America for example. Here each episode is just scattered with small intermissions with real life kids doing pointless things with an uninspiring song. They poster also promises an interactive sing and dance aspect, but that was literally only 2 minutes of jumping up and down and none of the kids in the theater did this.
Not really worth the ticket price. Better watch older episodes on TV at home.
