Carnage (2011)
Having to deal with other parents like this must be my personal hell. This movie has the increasing level of sarcasm and disdain dripping from the walls, as these two couples are trying to keep it civil - all utterly failing in the end. Everything is exaggerated here of course, but I think most parents can relate to how difficult it is to show objective restraint when it comes to talking about your own kids with other people when it is dealing with problematic behaviour. Even when the kids are not there, they bring out the worst in their parents.
The cast here is phenomenal with their characters, developing several character traits in this short running time. I found it incredibly funny, but it does rely heavily on a certain type of cringe and sarcastic humor.
At times the situations does feel somewhat scripted, with how everyone is having their moments, their little conflicts with everyone else, their good sides and bad sides, and small tokens of friendship between all the shouting. However, it is just so well executed and acted that it is easy to accept the heightened reality of the premise.
