Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964)

Nothing more hilarious than the end of the world. Been a while since I last seen this and still equally funny. I forgot that there was actually still hope till the very end and they really tried to think of everything to avoid triggering the doomsday machine. It is silly but still maintains all the qualities of a perfectly crafted plot.

Peter Sellers several roles is of course impressive in their own right, but the comedic hero for me is George C. Scott as the general. His delivery and timing is perfect and he is fully committed to the role of a 100% military man through and through. Never misses an opportunity to try and turn any event into a strategic advantage. If it is true that Kubrick somehow tricked Scott into doing his performance like that, then it has to be one of the best subversive actor-directing in the history of movies.
