The Lion King (1994)

Couldn’t pass up to see this in a nearby theater for a chance to show my daughter that Disney is more than Frozen.

She wasn’t overly impressed but for me it was a trip back in time. The pacing is slower than modern Disney movies, which in my opinion allows for greater emotional reflection. I found myself tearing up a bit at various moments and songs - and I wasn’t the only one. Nostalgia is hell of a drug.

As Disney classics go, it is a tough pick between this and Aladdin. I think Aladdin is funnier and more entertaining, but The Lion King gives a stronger emotional punch.
