Red Sun (1971)
Adding a samurai to a spaghetti western just makes perfect sense. Especially when your cast includes Bronson and Mifune. This setup can very easily tip either way but I found to just have the right amount of balance to actually pull the concept off. It has the right amount of humor to acknowledge that we all know this is a tongue-in-cheek meta blend of genres. While it still maintains a decent enough plot and a level of serious storytelling, because it never becomes silly or outright satirical. In the 70s most of the spaghetti westerns have moved into goofiness, and this isn’t as serious (or as good) as the great films by Leone or Corbucci - it is by most metrics a pretty decent entertaining spaghetti western.
