Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986)
This is a fan favorite among many for good reasons. It is a fitting end to the three movie arc, deals with classic Trek themes of mankind evolving as a civilized species and it is immensely funny with great performances across the board. Few characters outside the core crew and there is no “evil” antagonist as such to fight this time.
While it is known as the funny one, the main premise isn’t exactly a laughing matter dealing with serious issues of how humans drive other species to extinction and the sad consequences of us seeing ourselves as the ruler of all life on the planet.
Some scenes do get a bit too silly and strain credibility too far, like the hospital rescue scene - but overall it still holds up pretty well today.
