Decalogue III (1989)
The first two were emotional hard hitters, whereas the third installment is more muted and less dramatic. It is always admirable how much Kieslowski manages to achieve with relative minimalist techniques. We don’t get much information about the two characters, but it is clear they have a past together. It is interesting to see that unfold over the 55 minute running time, but also slightly confusing because it makes it difficult to really understand their behaviour. So I wasn’t totally engaged with this subdued interpersonal little drama, but the redeeming quality from this episode comes from how the snowy city with empty streets is shown.
