Chinatown (1974)

I was fortunate enough to see this in a theater that projected a scratchy old 35mm print. That just added to the whole classic noir vibe.

The story has enough twist and turns and reveals to keep it interesting from start to finish. Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway are both giving a hell of a performance. With just the right amount of humor on top.

Every reviewer talk about the ending and I am no exception. It was a gut punch for me as well. What an unkind way to treat the viewers.

As the credits rolled it was a five star movie for me for a few minutes, but already on the way home I realized it won’t be a movie I would get much more from by revisiting it. A perfectly fine noir film with great performances, just not a movie I would think much about tomorrow.
