Days of Being Wild (1990)

Another Wong Kar-Wai movie with his usual trademarks of several intertwining stories of love and loneliness accompanied by great cinematography with a green tint.

There is always something fascinating about his movies but this didn’t do a whole lot for me. I don’t particularly need likeable main characters but Yuddy didn’t have much of an interesting personality to make up for his horrible way he treated women. The most compelling part for me was the scenes with the cop and Li-shen. A romance that was only allowed to almost begin.

I do however liked the dreamlike world the movie creates. Completely devoid of any other people, except for the last twenty minutes, giving it a very intimate yet lonely feel.

The camera work from Doyle has it own storytelling and I preferred this more calm style that what we see in Fallen Angels.
