Anvil! The Story of Anvil (2008)
I am not old enough to have listened to Anvil in the 80s, but they are one of those metal bands that have sort of always been there. Might have listened to them a few times in random playlists on Spotify without taking much notice. Even though they don’t play the type of metal I listen to, what we see here is very recognizeable for every metal fan. Most metal bands don’t live the wild rockstar life but are always struggling with getting ends to meet along with their passion for their music. Their story here is unique but many bands will have a similar story on staying together for decades along with a dedicated fan base, but they still have to have regular jobs to pay the bills.
Even without any knowledge or interest in the metal scene, this documentary is worth watching for everyone in my opinion. The charm and dedication we see from Lips is hard to beat.
