Three Colours: White (1994)
Very different from Blue, but equally good - just for different reasons. Plot is more straightforward and relies less on symbolism - making it more approachable. Having a sort of deadpan style of dark humour helps too. However it is definitely not a light comedy. The almost assisted suicide scene was quite powerful and the friendship between Karol and Mikolaj stood out more for me than the weird romance with Dominique. This part of the trilogy should be about equality and I can certainly see that, but for me it was mostly a story about friendship and love. Though clearly love among equals which sets the whole crazy scheme going with Karol wanting to “get even” with his ex-wife.
